Abstracting Architecture

Using my collaged imagery I have worked with simplifying the shapes of the building and start develop 

patterns.

I've been using bright colours which juxtaposed against the grey and dreary concrete and relate to my

research on clothes patterns of the same time period.

Brutalist Architecture

Here are some collaged sketchbook pages relating to my research of patterns within Brutalist architecture.

I visited the usual sites such as the Barbican and the Southbank but also visited council estates, the most

surreal of which was Thamesmead.

It's amazing seeing how the idealistic architecture of the time has failed the residents so badly...

Thamesmead is a wasteland (and looks vaguely like a 70s apocalyptic sci-fi movie)

Paris Sketches

Here's a bunch of sketches I did when I was in Paris. I hardly drew any buildings or anything like that, I've done it so many times. Instead I mostly scribbled hungover as I tried to remember the night before. It made my mates laugh!
